Roger Brown- Mandolin, Vocals

Roger began his musical career in late 1982 at the early age of 14...  Roger being left handed started by taking his father's guitar and turning it upside down and tinkering around with it for a few months in 1984 things took a new direction. Showing interest in mandolin Roger's father bought him a right-handed A-model Ibanez mandolin in which he switched the strings around so he could play it left handed...  Roger started picking up on mandolin really fast and joined his father's band Raymond Brown and the Traveling Grass in late 1983. In 1985 Rogers father bought him his first custom built left-handed Taggart F-model mandolin which he still plays today. Roger is a singer- songwriter and has played in various different bands throughout his career and is an award-winning musician winning Awards such as gospel album of the year through spbgma and also placing third and second in the bluegrass band competition at spbgma with the first impression band in the late nineties early 2000. Rogers musical influences were his father Raymond Brown, Bill Monroe, Flatt&Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, JD Crowe and the Kentucky Mountain Boys and later the Ricky Skaggs and Tony Rice era...  Roger is the founder of Borrowed Tyme and is looking forward to doing his part in taking the band as far as it can go with the help of his musical comrades and bandmates. Roger and the band have goals set in place and are looking forward.... Roger says he can never leave out his mother, who has played a huge role in him being able to play music! He says his mother is his biggest fan...
